Description
Fujairah International Airport (FIA) is to undergo significant renovation
during the next decade to serve a growing number of passengers. Due to the poor condition of the
asphalted pavement of the runway, the Airport Administration intends to renew
the topmost asphalt layers. Additionally, it intends to widen the runway to 60m,
to meet the requirements of ICAO code letter F. The runway is also to be
extended to the southeast.
Contribution
Preparation of a conceptual/pre-feasibility study. Development and
presentation of three alternatives for the design and construction of the rehabilitation and
extension of the present runway. The study includes a proposed parallel
temporary taxiway which can be part of
the future airport development.
The study reflects that all construction works shall be done under full airport operation.
